Although it’s only a 5 minute drive out of the Canberra suburbs, Ginninderry Homestead feels a million miles away. If you’re looking for a smaller, more intimate ceremony and reception wedding venue with a country vibe, Ginninderry is one of our favourite places.
The venue is only a 20 minute drive from the centre of Canberra and is surrounded by 70 acres of gardens and country views. The Georgian style homestead can accommodate your close family in 4 queen rooms, and they also have a self contained cottage available.
The reception centre has the capacity to sit 90 guests in comfort or 120 standing guests. The venue can cater for banquet dining, a cocktail party style or relaxed roving finger food style dining. Sit-down, barbecue, buffet, carvery, cocktail style and high tea menus are available. Step through French doors onto the terrace with spectacular views of the gardens and creek below. On warm evenings guests can enjoy sipping champagne under the starry night sky, or in the cooler months gather around the cosy fire. There are 3 main ceremony locations to choose from: the charming sunken garden, wisteria walk or luscious formal lawn area with central fountain.
Annabel and Alex chose Ginninderry Homestead as the location for their wedding on a summers day earlier this year. They chose not to have a bridal party which meant that we were able to spend the afternoon exploring the gardens and other locations with the two of them. We drove up to the paddock on the property and the tree-lined driveway entrance for photographs.
